As a mother and a grandmother, Marsha understands how much the opioid epidemic is hurting Tennessee families. While the national media has just begun to pay attention to this public health crisis, Marsha has been fighting against it for years and leading on solutions. In the state Senate, she was instrumental in advancing legislation to form drug courts and treatment programs.
In Congress, she has led with solutions to fight opioid abuse. In March, she introduced the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act 2.0 – a bipartisan bill that increases civil and criminal penalties for bad actors and authorizes vital funding to combat the opioid epidemic. She regularly meets with law enforcement officials to understand their concerns and recommendations. She has advocated for, and will continue to advocate for, a systemic solution that includes taking a tough stance on the distribution of illicit opioids and engaging the community in prevention and recovery efforts.
Democrats are politicizing this public health crisis, and these attacks, and all the money they are pouring into them, do not save one life. They do not help one person get into recovery. They do not help law enforcement with the tools they need to stop this epidemic. Marsha won’t let this distract her. As our next Senator, she will continue to put Tennesseans first and fight to end this crisis.
